South East Water acknowledges the hardworking volunteers of the State Emergency Service (SES) on Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW) this Wednesday 21 May.

WOW Day is the national day of recognition to say ‘thank you’ to SES volunteers who serve their communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week through storms, floods, rescues, and so much more.

South East Water representatives recently visited the Hastings SES to see their new box trailer and battery chargers in action at a training night which were purchased with funding from the South East Water Community Grants Program.

The fully equipped trailer will help to improve the volunteers’ response time and efficiency when supporting the community in emergencies including storms and flood response. It is also valuable to load and transport equipment during training.

SES Hastings Unit Controller Dutchy Holland said the trailer was already proving to be an important piece of equipment to save time.

“It may seem like a simple asset, but this box trailer can transport equipment off road and make a real impact to our work.

We appreciated the visit from the team at South East Water – it’s always a pleasure to show those who support us what we do.”

South East Water Community Manager Paige-Elise Galloway said the work of the SES was invaluable.

“Our community relies on the incredible SES volunteers to support them during storms, emergencies and other stressful events.

“Without the contribution of these volunteers, support would not be provided when it’s needed. We acknowledge and thank each and every one of them.”

This year also marks 50 years of the VICSES, which was celebrated in March.
