South East Water is continuing complex emergency pipe works near the intersection of Kerferd Rd and Danks St in Albert Park.
Crews are investigating the cause of the 1.5 metre deep subsidence linked to our sewer pipe and will undertake repairs and reinstate the road as soon as possible.
Our sewer pipe is located 7.5 metres deep and below the groundwater table, which is making the works more complex.
There’s still no impact to customer water or sewerage services.
We’re sorry it’s taking longer than usual and for the ongoing disruption to the area. Because of the challenging ground conditions and pipe depth, we’ve needed specialised equipment to complete the works safely.
Customers might see or hear us around while we complete these important works over the coming days.
These are the kinds of things customers might notice while we work
- More trucks in the area and surrounding streets.
- Noise from machinery, like pumps and beepers when trucks reverse.
- A change in normal traffic flow on local streets.
Our traffic management team will be around to make sure people, bikes and cars can move around safely.
We’re thank the community for their patience. Our crews are working as safely and quickly as possible and will leave the area as we found it.
We’re continuing to work with Melbourne Water and update City of Port Phillip.
For more information customers can call our 24‑hour Faults and Emergencies team on 13 28 12.
